The heroine is stumbling along and not doing so well. His whole childhood was devoted to training for survival. The hero is gruff and grumpy, he didn't receive a lot of love as a child and was raised by a prepper out in the woods. I guess that is considered slice of life? I eat this kind of stuff up, so it was perfect for me. I personally loved the attention to detail. We see a lot of moments of pure survival, so if you like reading the "boring" details where they have to harvest food in the garden or do perimeter checks or start fires this book is for you lol. I think I originally found this book through this sub, but I hardly ever see it mentioned here? It is a very slow burn (like Mariana Zapata kind of levels except not so light hearted), and very light on the spice (there are on page sex scenes but they are nearly fade to black, basically very vaguely written). Omg I just finished this and it is SO good.
